From the South of Sweden to speakers and screens across the globe, AronChupa is a new breed of viral hit maker. The aspiring college soccer star first hit the radar as part of viral group Albatraoz, who garnered more than 16million plays across Scandinavia for their self titled single, but it wasn’t until 2014 that Aron Ekberg would take flight on his own terms. From his bedroom at his parent’s house in Borås, with a little help from sister Nora on vocals, ‘I’m An Albatraoz’ was born. Hitting Double Platinum across the board, the track has collectively streamed more than 550m times to-date, giving AronChupa a global reputation as Sweden’s latest viral dance export.

AronChupa’s profile only spread in 2015. Kick-starting the year with main stage duties at Ultra Music Festival in Miami, a packed global tour schedule added to the on-going popularity of ‘I’m An Albatraoz,’ which hit number one in more than five countries and held top ten in more than 50. Joining global chart topper OMI for recent album track ‘Drop In The Ocean,’ Aron’s acceptance among the elite of modern pop music sets the tone for his forthcoming solo work considerably high. Second single ‘Fired Cuz I Was Late’ shows a fresh side to the Stockholm-based talent in the wake of his speedy rise to fame.

Showcasing his broad production skills and fusing main room dance music with an urban twist, the year ahead spells further twists and turns for one of Sweden’s most unsuspecting success stories of the past decade – all in the name of putting fun and freshness back into electronic music.
